Let’s be honest for a second, running a CIC can feel like you’re spinning plates while juggling flaming batons. You’re not just writing grants, you’re doing social media, editing content, writing newsletters, managing projects, and probably feeling overwhelmed. It’s exhausting. I get it, because I’ve done it all myself for over ten years.
Back in the day, before all these fancy AI tools, it would take me days to write application forms and days make and edit videos. Now? I can get an application written in an hour or two and a whole month’s worth of content done in half a day. Honestly, we are so lucky with the tech available today. It’s a total game changer.
So, here’s my top tips for making your CIC life easier:
1. Grant Writing—Meet Grant Seeker
There’s a brand new tool that’s just come out, and I’m buzzing about it! It’s called Grant Seeker, and it was actually made by one of our CIC students. It’s AI-powered, so not only does it search for grants, but it also gives you the funders’ questions and helps you write your application. It even suggests project ideas. Absolute game changer. If grant writing has been your biggest headache, you’ve got to try this.
2. Social Media—Let AI Do the Heavy Lifting
Sintra, Gemini, or ChatGPT (the paid version) can help you plan your social media posts and write your captions. Pair this with Meta Business Suite and you can schedule a ton of posts in just minutes. No more last-minute panic posting or staring at a blank screen wondering what to say.
3. Video Editing—Descript is a
If you’re making long-form videos for YouTube or your online courses, check out Descript. I just discovered it and I’m obsessed! It edits your videos in seconds, cleans up your script, takes out all the awkward gaps and “um’s.” I can film four YouTube videos, run them through Descript, and schedule a whole month’s worth in no time.
4. The Future—Get Ready for AvatarsThings are moving fast. I’m starting to experiment with Runway, an AI platform that lets you upload a video and replace yourself with an avatar. Imagine creating an avatar with your community, make it a workshop! It’s perfect for those days when you don’t want your face online, or you want to create something more relatable for your audience.
I know there’s a lot of fear around AI, but honestly? It’s helping level the playing field. Regular people with limited time and money can now create content and run projects like the big players. I love it as I’m dyslexic and it’s helps me writer. It also helps keep my costs down. I don’t have to hire as many freelancers.
So be brave, give one of these tools a go this week, and see how much time you can save.
