The National Lottery Heritage Fund offers several grant levels perfect for creative community projects like yours:

💰 Grant Levels:​

  • Small/Medium Grants: £10,000 to £250,000 

  • Large Grants: £250,000 to £5 million (for major heritage initiatives)

📋 Key Application Requirements:

  • Clear heritage focus 

  • Community benefit demonstration

  • Project outcomes aligned with their priorities

  • Detailed budget breakdown

  • Project timeline (usually 1-5 years)

  • Evidence of community engagement 

  • Match funding (usually 5-10% for smaller grants)

📋 What you need to get ready to include with the application:

  • If your a new CIC three months bank statements. If a year + then your accounts

  • Articles of association

  • A risk register (template below)

  • Heritage Partners: 2-3 emails of support and confirmation they will be part of the project- from museums/archives/galleries

  • Staff Docs: CVs and job descriptions for all paid staff

  • Volunteer Plan: How you'll recruit, train and manage volunteers

  • Policies: Conflict of interest policy (extra important if directors become paid staff)

  • Reference: Written confirmation from heritage person vouching your project is needed and important

  • 6 pieces of evidence to support your project (these can be emails from venues, archives etc)

  • 6 images showcasing your project (photos of a exhibition zoom a taster session etc)
